Green infrastructure key feature of design guide

Green roofs and sustainable urban drainage systems (SuDS) are featured in a new government design guide for creating ‘beautiful, enduring and successful places’ in England. The Planning Practice Guidance (PPG), which provides supplementary advice to developers, planners and architects, notes that ‘well-designed’ places often include various pieces of green infrastructure, stating that not only do interventions make a place more attractive but also contribute to safety, air quality and improved biodiversity.
